About Me

I have a BCouns from Notre Dame University with 5+ years in the Addiction sector working for Palmerston Association in Metro Community Alcohol and Drug Services.

I’m a member of the Australian Counselling Assoc - level 3 accredited, trained in supervision for the AOD sector & a qualified SMART Group facilitator.

I have practiced Yoga for 35 years taught if for 10 years and am accredited to teach by Yoga Australia at level 2 (5+ years teaching).

I have facilitated groups in ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy) and mindfulness as well as being a regular facilitator for SMART groups Australia.

I have extensive experience working with substance use, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, self harm, family and relationship issues.

My practice is primarily informed by the idea that people are most fulfilled when they have meaningful activity and connection to others both in immediate friends-family and the wider community.

We’re happiest when we’re connected to others, connected to our community and have occupation-activity that means something to us.

I have been a Musician & Songwriter most of my adult life and continue to write & play in ensembles. It is Music & Yoga that provides connection to community, the creative spirit & fills my cup for the rest of life.

Every person is different and may take a different pathway towards self actualisation. I believe in meeting the client where they are and cooperatively choosing an approach to therapy. These may range from traditional psychotherapies such as solution focused, CBT, narrative therapy, ACT, interpersonal through to existential and trans-personal modes of working.

I can optionally teach embodiment practices from Yoga - breath control, awareness of body states, controlled movement to encourage clients to be more comfortable and present in their own body and their life.

My practice is informed by contemporary understanding of trauma and its effects through a lens of Poly-Vagal theory and trauma informed yoga models. To find out more about my Yoga click here.
